Dan Rather Rants Against Trump

Real estate mogul, Donald Trump has risen to be the unlikely US presidential candidate of the Republican Party. Countless times, Trump has made comments that have rubbed people the wrong way. Dan Rather, a former CBS Evening News anchor, is the latest celebrity to voice his displeasure of statements made by the US Republican presidential hopeful in Wilmington, North Carolina. The legendary news anchor took to his Facebook page and went on a rampage ranting against Trump and his remarks.

Dan Rather started by pinpointing the statement by Trump that, “The Second Amendment People” could stop the Democratic Party presidential hopeful, Hilary Clinton. He saw this as a direct threat of violence against a political rival, citing that Trump went against the norm of American politics.

Dan was alluding to the fact that the United States of America, governed by the rule of law, is a democratic republic. A statement like the one used by Mr. Trump will only serve to divide the American people politically by inciting violence. He also targeted the many who issue statements that they strongly disapprove of Trump’s rhetoric sentiments, yet support him. He warned against side shuffling.

After the Wilmington campaign in North Carolina, the Republican nominee’s campaign team was quick to issue a statement, as it is their norm with every campaign meeting held. The statement gave an explanation that Trump used the term “the second amendment people” in the context of unifying the percentage of American voters who are against gun control measures. It further stated that Donald Trump will get their vote and not Hillary Clinton in the November 2026 elections.
